Museum Mission
The mission of the Heard-Craig Center for the Arts is to continue Kathryn Heard Craig’s vision: Promote the fine arts through educational programs and exhibits, provide meeting facilities for educational clubs, and honor the legacy of the Heard and Craig families through the preservation of the historic properties.
Your support of our mission will help us to continue to maintain the historic structures for the future.
Endowment
The purpose of the endowment is to provide a “nest egg” that will grow over time. The annual earnings from this initial investment are reinvested and would be available should a major repair of the historic structures be needed. The endowment is vitally important for the future and for continuing our mission.
Texas Regional Art Symposium

Patricia B. Avery Regional Art Exhibit
Patricia B. Avery was president of the board of Trustees for the Heard Craig Center for the Arts and an exemplary woman. She personified the wisdom, visionary spirit and integrity of our founder, Kathryn Heard Craig. As board president, Mrs. Avery, guided the Heard-Craig Center for the Arts into a new era of focus on the arts, art acquisition and fostering of young talent. This annual exhibit within the Texas Regional Art Symposium will provide a bridge between art of the past and present.
Art Conservation
The Heard-Craig maintains a priority list of paintings in the collection that require conservation assessment and repair. The effects of time and environmental conditions make it necessary to have pieces cleaned, to add acid free matting or uv glass and in some cases a painting may require a more detailed conservation approach. Your contribution makes it possible to preserve these beautiful paintings for the future.
Art Acquisition
It was of great personal importance to our founder, Kathryn Heard Craig, that her art collection be on view for the enjoyment of the public. Your gift will help to make it possible to add complementary pieces to the collection. New acquistions will enhance the current collection and help provide insight into the regional art of Texas.
Education
Education was vitally important to the Heard family and was the focus of their philanthropy. We strive to offer informative, entertaining and relevant programs for the enjoyment and education of the community. Your support will help us to continue the Art History Brown Bag Series, Music in the Garden, Tea & Conversation and other programs.
