Katie's |
Garden |

The garden is a tribute to Kathryn Heard Craig, an accomplished artist, author, and philanthropist who was dedicated to her family and community. Katie (as she was known) lived her life by the words, "to those whom much is given, much is required." She served her community through volunteer work and by making "quiet" contributions to needy organizations and projects. It was not in her nature to boast of her philanthropy or accomplishments, but to serve others and provide help or assistance when needed. The beautiful garden was designed by Elizabeth Smidt of Great Gardens in McKinney. The lovely landscape has transformed the grounds of the Heard-Craig House and Carriage House. A wedding gazebo, antique rose gardens, knot garden, and even a "secret" garden are accented with a beautiful Victorian fountain, urns and garden ornamentation. Katie's Garden is a popular location for weddings, special events and the "Music in the Garden" series." |
