Around the United States, women make up the majority of art curators and educators. Their achievements continue to redefine the art industry as well as other industries. As we celebrate Women’s History Month, we want to acknowledge the significance of several women leaders in the DFW arts arena.
Let’s start with the Texas Women’s Foundation. At the beginning of March, they had a screening event at the Dallas Museum of Art for “Lilly.” “Lilly” is a film about equal pay for women in workplaces.

Then, the Women’s Chorus of Dallas is partnering with Texas Women’s University to perform their 11th installment of ‘Voices of Women’ (a concert where all the music is arranged by women). And Art on Main is accepting, through March, curations made by women for their ‘Women in Art - Revealing Our Magnificence’ showcase. Each of these DFW organizations should be applauded for their continuous commitment to women’s brilliance.
On a broader United States landscape, we also applaud Alysa Liu who recently became a gold medalist in women’s figure skating.

Behind the spotlight, but no less impressive, is Kaitlyn Weaver, one of the choreographers behind Team USA’s other gold medal win (Amber Glenn’s performance was both impressive and moving). And, of course, let's not forget TIME, who is hosting their Women of the Year Gala on March 10th which includes honorees like Teyana Taylor, Brandi Carsille, Mel Robbins, and Mahnoor Omer. Each of these women has an active voice in their community that motivates change.

Women make up close to half (46%) of the artists in the United States. By highlighting the key role women play in the arts industry, we ensure that young women have good role models to emulate.
